‘Who’s the fairest of them all,’ might not be a real concern for you, when you wake up every morning and stare into that old and rusty or cheap and simple mirror of yours. However the not-so-glamorous look of your mirror can be reasons enough for bringing your spirits down. So to glam-up your bedroom and dressing corner, try these amazing craft ideas. The best part of the whole activity is, you won’t need to spend much (none maybe) for sprucing up your project.
- Create a personalized frame. You could use cardboard to cut out the frame. Keep the width of the frame as thick as you need for adding the decorations. After the initial dusting and painting of the frame, (use spray paints, textured paints) add DIY flowers or create a collage with broken CD pieces.
- If you are lucky enough to possess a vintage mirror with it’s Grecian frames-design intact, your task is half-done. Invest on a white spray paint and some doily stencils to cover the whole frame in cool Mediterranean shades.
- How about some layers, which will add an element of mystery about it. Create or buy thin lace-curtains that you can hang.
Sneak a glance every now and then, you will definitely be pleased with your (now) magical creation.
Mirror Frame Using Rope
How about a DIY frame is made with rope? You can get great rope at a marine or boat supply store. Particle board words great with this project.. Cut the board in a round shape according to the size of the frame you wish to make. Paint the frame white or whatever color you choose. Taking super glue and attaching the mirror in middle of the board. Paste the rope around the outside. If rope is very thick, 3 rounds of rope around would be sufficient to make the frame. Use a piece of rope as shown in picture below for hanging the mirror.
Cutlery Mirror Frame
If you have recently changed your utensils, are planning to change it, or even find great pieces at the flea market, and then a DIY frame the idea is that you can utilize your utensils to decorate. Take a round plate. Cut it into two round pieces of card stock paper, the dimensions of the inside area of the plate. Paste one round piece of card paper on the back and one on the front of the plate. Take forks, spoons, and knives from of your old cutlery set and paint them with your choice of color. After they are dry, paste knives, forks, and spoons on the card paper pasted on the back of the plate. Then, in front paste mirror with super glue on card paper. Your unique, different and amazing mirror frame is now ready. You can make your frame even better by attaching beads on a plate as well.
Mirror Frame Made of Sea Shells
Do you have a shell collection? Have you been to sea shore? Next time when you be there, do not forget to collect shells of different sizes because in for your next craft project, you can utilize these shells. It creates an everlasting memory of your visit and you can re-visit the beach every day, with your completed mirror. Once you have collected shells wash them thoroughly and use super glue to paste shells on the edges of your round or square mirror to make a fabulous frame.
