Canopy Ideas Do It Yourself (DIY)
DIY Canopy Ideas
So what if you are too old for fairytales, you can still live like a princess anyway. Sleep like one to be more precise. A dreamy canopy in soothing colors and some twinkling lights over your head and you are all set for a good night’s sleep. Follow the simple steps to create your elegant and charming overhead canopy.
Things you will need:
Curtain rods or embroidery hoops
Sheets of fabric of any color you prefer (though white and lighter shades always work well)
Sewing tools (sewing machine, needles, thread, scissors, tape measure, clips)
Fairy lights (the best ones to get are just after Christmas when the stores are trying to get rid of all the leftover decorations. However, I also found them at my local Dollar store. Battery powered ones are better than electric as you will to not have to deal with electric cords, and having to figure out how to hide the cords)
Procedure: Use the curtain rod or the embroidery hoop as the structure holding your canopy down from a height. Prep the sheets for sewing. (you can measure the length of the canopy and then cut the cloth accordingly) Depending on the type of fabric chosen by you, begin with stitching one end of the fabric around the curtain rod/hoop. Following a circular motion, sew all the way to the other end of the fabric. The final step is a tricky part, try holding layers with clips or ask a friend to help. The neater your sewing is, the prettier your canopy would be. Once you are done with all those needlework, hang or even better, attach the fairy lights for an enchanted look. What more? Hang it up and let the fairy-saga begin!!
