Nail polish crafting is unconventional and one of my favorite alternatives to expensive acrylic paint. I always have colors that I did not end up liking, or older polishes that are too thick to use. The inexpensive brands and readily available and fun to work with. I try to find different colors, finished, or anything different but never spending more than 1-2 dollars a bottle. You actually use a small amount of nail polish and it lasts forever.
When I got started, I went to Dollar stores, Walmart, and drug stores and started collecting a lot of different colors, while spending a little as I could. I got quite a collection and it was fun finding these inexpensive bottles of nail polish. Crackle effect nail polish works great for individual projects too.
